Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?”
If anyone could discuss theology with Jesus, it should have been Nicodemus. He was a Pharisee, a graduate of the seminary. He may have even had a doctorate. He was an official teacher of Israel and no ordinary teacher at that. He was a ruler, a member of the Sanhedrin, the highest governing body of the Jewish people. Nicodemus was a mover and a shaker. He was both a theologian and a politician. You really have to watch your wallet around a guy like that. Nicodemus, and those that knew him, assumed he was enlightened, in the know, when it came to things about God. He had the pedigree and the degrees to prove it. ….
