Alleluia! Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Allelluia! Brothers and sisters in Christ, “Today is the day the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it.” By His resurrection, the Lord has opened up eternity. Our Lord Jesus Christ has trampled down death by death. The grave could not hold the eternal Son of God. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the victor over Satan and hell. Christ is risen, so let us rejoice and be glad on this glorious morn.
Strangely, however, joy and gladness did not fill the hearts of the women who arrived at Jesus’ empty grave on that first Easter. Rather, St. Mark tells us, they were filled with fear and seized by trembling and astonishment. They hear the news, “He is risen; he is not here,” and they do not respond, “He is risen indeed! Alleluia!” Instead, they say, “You have to be kidding. How is such a thing possible?” “What do you mean He is risen?” “We will see Him in Galilee? What are you talking about? You sound crazy!”
