For … if you do not go after other gods to your own harm…
Then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever” (Jer 7:4-7).

Shortly before sundown, the tables were turned and the hunted—the Jewish rebels—became the hunters—of Roman soldiers.
But the Jewish counterattack was short-lived because the Roman attackers has drawn up fresh forces and were now marshaling their strength.
