Community Involvement
Kendall-Whittier Neighborhood Outreach
Grace supports Kendall-Whittier Elementary School and its families, and cares for our neighbors throughout the surrounding community.
- Providing 20 Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter gift baskets to families identified by the school's social worker
- Providing personal grooming kits and toothbrushes
- Volunteering for Reading Partners
- Supporting teachers with break room items
- Operating the Emergency Clothes Closet, providing basic clothing items for acute needs
- Operating a distribution site for Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa
- Donating to the Kendall-Whittier Emergency Food Pantry
- Delivering "Meatloaf Ministry" to at-risk neighbors, supplementing Meals on Wheels
- Sewing quilts to give to Domestic Violence Intervention Services and DHS
- Many other ways as we identify needs
Ecumenical Involvement
Grace Lutheran Church has a long history of cooperation and dialog with local congregations.
Grace participates in the Downtown Clergy Association, which meets monthly. This is an association of senior pastors and clergy from historic congregations in and near downtown Tulsa who meet for fellowship and sharing in ministry struggles and strategies.
The Knippa Interfaith/Ecumenical Lecture Series, now in its 30th year, hosts an annual academic presentation by scholars and theologians from Christian, Jewish, and Muslim traditions. Lectures address contemporary topics in living in an increasingly pluralistic society, and take place the last Sunday in January.
Campus Ministry: Grace Night
Join us from September to April on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:45 PM at Grace Lutheran Church. Come on over to your "church home away from home" every Wednesday for a free meal, short worship service, and Bible study.
